01 / What this covers
What this covers
This statement describes what data Virtue Council Live collects, under what conditions, and how B-Side Labs uses it. It applies to all visitors and to anyone who uses the research contribution feature.
02 / Your API key
Your API key
When you enter your Anthropic API key to use the live tool, it is held in your browser’s memory for the duration of the session only. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted to B-Side Labs servers. It leaves your browser only to reach api.anthropic.com directly.
03 / Conversation content
Conversation content
Your messages and the model’s replies are processed entirely in your browser for scoring purposes. They are not sent to B-Side Labs by default. Your conversation is never logged or stored on our infrastructure unless you choose to donate it (see below).
04 / Research contribution
Research contribution (optional)
Nothing is contributed by default. You may opt in to contribute data to the Virtue Council benchmark. This is strictly optional and requires an affirmative choice.
Opting in takes effect going forward. Once you opt in, the data described below is stored for each reply from that point on. Replies from before you opted in are not collected retroactively. You can turn contribution off again at any time from the research controls in the tool, which stops any further storage.
Scores only (anonymous by default)
If you contribute without enabling text sharing, we store only:
- seven virtue scores per reply
- model identifier
- scoring mode
- reply length
- a randomly generated session ID
- timestamp
No messages. No API key. No account. No persistent identifier tied to you.
With message text (optional)
You may also choose to share the text of your messages and the model’s replies. This is more useful for research because it lets us audit score quality and study behavioral patterns in context. However, including message text means the contribution is no longer anonymous — the content of what you typed is part of the record. A disclosure is shown at the point of opt-in. Do not share message text if your conversation contains anything sensitive.
Session feedback (optional)
The session-summary card shows an optional feedback form: one question (“Did you change your behavior after seeing the model’s scores?”) and a free-text box for general comments. It is sent only if you fill it in and press “Send feedback,” and it is independent of the score-contribution choice above. We store your answer, your comment if you wrote one, the random session ID, and the number of turns. No message text is included. Do not put anything sensitive in the comment box.
05 / How data is used
How contributed data may be used
Contributed data — whether scores-only or with text — may be used to:
- develop and validate the Virtue Council scoring instrument
- produce aggregate findings, benchmarks, and research outputs
- support approved research collaborations aligned with B-Side Labs’ mission
We will not materially broaden the use of an existing contribution without obtaining fresh consent. Publishing an updated policy does not by itself constitute consent.
06 / No sale or training
No sale or model training
We will not sell, license, or otherwise transfer contributed data to another party for its independent use. We will not use contributed data to train any model.
Service providers (including cloud infrastructure) may handle data only on our behalf and only as necessary to store and operate the project. They may not use it for other purposes.
07 / Site analytics
Site analytics
Virtue Council Live uses Vercel Analytics, which collects standard web analytics data including page views, referring URLs, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address. This data is processed by Vercel and is not linked to your session activity or any research contribution. No cookies are set for analytics purposes. See Vercel’s privacy policy for details on how Vercel handles this data.
08 / Retention & withdrawal
Retention and withdrawal
There is currently no automatic retention deadline for contributed data. We will review whether continued retention is justified on a periodic basis.
To request withdrawal of a contribution, contact us at research@bsidelabs.ai with your session ID if you have it. We will delete the contribution from active storage and exclude it from future work. Withdrawal cannot undo aggregate analyses, evaluations, or published findings already completed.
10 / Policy versions
Policy versions
The policy version in effect at the time of a contribution governs that contribution. Later versions apply automatically only to new contributions and to changes that do not materially broaden the use of existing ones. Any materially broader use requires fresh, affirmative consent.
